3b. Wider Resources
Poor mental health amongst children and young people is an escalating crisis, with the number of children seeking help from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (Camhs) in England having more than doubled over the past two years, with 1.4 million referrals in 2022 and support services struggling to meet this demand.
We know that many young people have to wait months on waiting list for additional support, during which time their mental health can significantly deteriorate. Young Futures is able to provide quick, early support and most importantly shows our young people that we hear them, we are listening and we want to help. As well as offering tools and techniques the programme can also signpost to other specialist services, both in and out of school.
Lynn to provide info on wider schools programme / pathway etc
Young Futures is a founding member of the Wirksworth Mental Health Initiative, a town- wide-wide approach to supporting mental health and signposting those in need to organizations who that can support them.
