Through the amazing generosity of local people, Young Futures is able to expand it’s activities to support more local young people.
We are working with Anthony Gell school to set up a new bereavement support group for local young people and their families. The group will initially be specifically for families with a child at Anthony Gell, however this may expand as the group establishes.
The death of someone important is one of the most traumatic situations for a child or young person and without support can have long term impact on their mental health. Sadly, there are many young people in Wirksworth and surrounding area who have experienced a death in their close family or live with somebody with a terminal illness.
Unfortunately, there is currently very limited access to bereavement support services in our area so we hope to help by setting up a new monthly support group. We hope the group will help young people to understand their feelings, process their grief and will be better able to cope with the impact of death on their lives. Most importantly the group will be a warm and welcoming space to meet other people, to talk and share and hopefully not feel so alone.
Initially the group will be meet once a month, on the first Wednesday of the month at Wellspring, meeting from 3.45pm for a 4pm start.
We’ll be meeting on the following dates
• 4 Mar
• 25 March
• 6 May
• 3 June
• 1 July
