Activities

Funds raised to date have helped to set up a regular weekly offer of 1 to 1 and group sessions at Anthony Gell School, Wirksworth .aimed at students who may be experiencing difficulties that are affecting their emotional wellbeing and mental health.  These difficulties can be wide ranging.

The 1 to 1 sessions offer a relationally safe and confidential space with a qualified counselling therapist where the young person is encouraged to explore what is currently affecting how they feel, what already helps and what might increase wellbeing. The group sessions, led by a therapist, offer young people a chance to connect with others and engage in activities of choice along with those of therapeutic value. This may involve using creativity and tools that support wellbeing. Therapeutic practitioners use their skills and professional experience to help young people feel heard and accepted in a safe space thus enabling them to express themselves, build confidence, gain empowerment and deepen self-awareness.

Work to date has been successful, with really positive feedback from students, parents,  teachers and practitioners. We continually review our approach and are able to grow and develop our offer in response to the needs of the young people we work with.

Young people are referred through the Pastoral Team at Anthony Gell but they can also be referred by parents and carers. If you would like to discuss this please contact Lynn Davis-Patterson LDavis-Patterson@anthonygell.co.uk
